Supported Grooming

Stress-Less Grooming is best known for its bespoke Supported Grooming service, designed to help anxious dogs feel more comfortable with professional grooming. I work closely with owners to adapt the grooming process to each dog’s individual needs, building trust and tolerance at a pace they can handle. This often means starting with short, frequent sessions, and a full groom may not be achievable in one visit. However, the focus is always on long-term progress, maintaining your dog's trust, and creating positive behaviour change for a more relaxed grooming experience over time. Owners are welcomed to stay during Supported Grooming services if it is in the dog's best interests.

Brushing sessions (non-clipped coats):

From £40 per hour

 

Grooming & handling sessions 
(Brushing, bathing, clipping and/or trimming, depending on your dog’s needs):

Up to 1 hour - £45

1.5 hours - £55

2 hours - £65

  • All sessions are charged by time, not by size or a fixed “full groom” package.

  • For some dogs, especially those in supported grooming, a full groom may take multiple sessions.

  • Sessions are adapted to your dog’s comfort level—this may mean skipping or adjusting parts like blow drying.

  • Additional charges may apply depending on drying method or specialist handling needs.

Reintroduction to Grooming Package – £260

For new clients: required as the first step

This six-hour package is designed to reintroduce dogs to grooming in a safe, gradual and positive way. It’s ideal for dogs who have had negative experiences, are recovering from injury, or have shown stress, fear or aggression during previous grooming.

​

Whether your dog has been sedated in the past, struggles with handling, or just needs time to rebuild trust, this programme offers space, structure and support to help them feel safe and comfortable again.

Please note: This package is a required first step for all new clients. It allows us to build a strong foundation before moving on to maintenance grooms or standalone sessions.

What’s included:

  • 6 flexible hours of supported sessions
    Use your hours in 30, 60, or 90-minute blocks — whatever suits your dog best on the day.
    If your dog needs a shorter session, unused time rolls over, so nothing is wasted.

  • Personalised grooming plan
    A step-by-step approach tailored to your dog’s history, behaviour, and needs.

  • Welcome pack
    Including handouts on dog body language, signs of stress, and how to support your dog between visits.

  • Regular progress updates
    After each session, you’ll receive a summary of how your dog is doing, plus tips to help them continue building confidence at home.

  • Consent-based, behaviour-led approach
    We never rush or restrain your dog beyond their comfort. Sessions focus on choice, communication and gentle desensitisation.
