Originally training as an Occupational Therapist, I worked in various Health and Social Care settings supporting people from all walks of life, one to one and with groups of people. I trained as a groomer in 2013 and started a very small part time grooming business from a summer house in my back garden. At the same time, I began working with a prison-based rescue dog training programme and this is where my journey to learning about dog behaviour and training began. For the last 10 years I have developed my knowledge about dog behaviour and training techniques to move away from traditional grooming protocols, focusing on the dog’s experience during the process, not just the end result, developing a 'Behaviour-Led' approach to dog grooming.
Working with people and their dogs together to help make life better by overcoming their grooming fears at home and the salon, has become my passion. I am now an approved groomer with Taking The Grr Out Of Grooming Dogs, a member of the Holistic Grooming Academy, and I'm currently studying to gain my Diploma in Holistic Grooming and Behaviour. I am passionate about dog welfare and wellbeing, as well as continuing professional development in grooming, welfare and behaviour. Giving your dog a positive experience of grooming is at the heart of everything I do. If you'd like to know more about what i do, check out my blog here.
