Originally training as an Occupational Therapist, I worked in many health and social care settings, such as NHS, Homeless organisations, addictions services, prisons and the community. Working one to one and with groups of people. I trained as a groomer in 2013 and started a very small grooming business from a summer house in my back garden. At the same time, I got a job working with a prison-based rescue dog training programme, based in Polmont Young Offenders Education Centre and this is where my journey to learning about dog behaviour and training began. For the last 9 years I have developed my knowledge about dog behaviour and training techniques to move away from traditional grooming protocols, focusing on the dog’s experience during the process, not just the end result. Working with people and their dogs together to help make life better by overcoming their grooming fears at home and the salon, has become my passion.
